How is the Restylane Refyne Procedure Performed?
After a consultation, your provider will administer treatment to the affected areas using a fine-gauge needle. The injectable contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to ensure comfort during the procedure. Your provider will mold and shape the filler and give you aftercare instructions to ensure best results.
How Long Do the Results of a Restylane Refyne Treatment Last?
Every patient metabolizes injectables differently. However, in clinical studies, over 90% of patients were still satisfied with their results at 3 months and nearly 80% still saw great results at 6 months. Results were seen to last up to 12 months for 62.3% of patients.
Am I a Candidate for Restylane Refyne?
If you are over the age of 21, have moderate-to-severe marionette lines and/or nasolabial folds, and are in relatively good health, you are likely a good candidate for Restylane Refyne. Some exceptions include patients who are allergic to lidocaine or other ingredients in the filler, patients who have had an allergic reaction to other injectable filler treatments, or patients who have severe anaphylaxis. Women who are pregnant or nursing should also not receive Refyne or any other injectable anti-aging treatment.
What Side-Effects Can I Expect Following a Restylane Refyne Treatment?
Like with most dermal fillers, mild, short-term side-effects do occur with FDA-approved Restylane Refyne. During clinical trials, patients reported mild itchiness, tenderness, swelling, and bruising at the injection site. Bumps and lumps can also develop, but this risk is reduced when you choose a reputable provider.
Serious complications with Refyne are rare and can be avoided by receiving treatment in a reputable aesthetics practice with experienced providers. Patients who have received filler treatments from inexperienced providers are more likely to see serious risks such as infection, blood vessel damage, or asymmetrical results.
What is a tear trough? The tear trough, also known as a nasojugal groove, extends from the inner corner of the eye, following a semicircular arc and transitioning to the palpebromalar groove. A deep tear trough can create a shadow that is perceived as a dark circle below the eye. It also creates a division between the lower eyelid and cheek that is an early sign of aging around the eyes. Patients with deep tear troughs often complain that they look more tired and older than they really are.
How is a tear trough treated? Many patients prefer the non-invasive approach of a filler, in order to avoid the risks and potential complications of surgery. Treatment with a filler such as Restylane can provide a patient with a long-lasting natural result, often greater than one year, with minimal downtime.
Who is a candidate for Restylane?Patients who are good candidates often complain of a ‘hollow look’ or dark circles under they eyes; they may also point out enlarging fat pockets in the lower eyelids. Selecting appropriate patients for tear trough treatment requires expert judgment. Excellent candidates have good skin elasticity and adequate skin thickness. The position of the orbital rim to the tear trough is also an extremely important consideration. For these reasons, not everyone is a good candidate for treatment of the tear trough.
How long will the results last? The results of tear trough treatment vary from patient to patient. However, the results typically last around nine months. In many cases, the results last well over one year.
What should I expect after treatment? Some minor swelling is expected after treatment. This is usually minor and resolves within a week. Some patients will also develop minor bruising that can usually be covered with makeup. Patients should avoid exercise for twenty-four hours after the procedure to minimize swelling. Otherwise, patients can resume work and normal activities.
How much Restylane will I need?
Most patients only require one syringe of Restylane, but patients with very deep tear troughs may ultimately need multiple syringes.
